Behind the Scenes at Mirror Water, Launch with You Tuber Estee Lalonde

"Ive never regretted a bath" Estee Lalonde

Mirror Water was created by the talented YouTuber and content creator Estee Lalonde.
Her infectious personality has captured our hearts, and last week she officially launched her  brand, Mirror Water. The products have received numerous accolades from National press including Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Cosmpolitan and many more. The truth is, after spending two days with this beauty entrepreneur, I know with the launch of her first skincare brand, and chillout leisurewear, she is just getting started!

Look out for many more amazing products from Estee Lalonde!

Estee has an exciting and infectious honest personality, that encourages you and her huge following from her Mirror Water community, to simply unwind and relax. Her mission was to choose and share sustainable and clean beauty ingredients that evoke healing, reduce anxiety, and ease congestion. The aim was to bring the Mirror Water Bathroom to Space NK and for you to explore the ASMR experience in the Space NK store.

At home we would  recommend to use the products, whilst enjoying time for self reflection, indulge, with a beautiful soak with BUFF in the bath tub or shower after a long day.

This award winning naturally derived brand, combines blends of essential oils, use the soothing RUB balm or SMOOTH oil to keep you glowing... whilst owning your own down time, disconnect, be totally indulgent and enjoy.

This uniquely styled range, allows rituals of the mind and body to turn inwards, to flow...capture and release pressures outwardly, whilst you soak. This peaceful moment of letting go, of daily fears and stresses..brings a much needed balance and harmony to your space..

Be part of her community, feel the beautiful textures, and enjoy the natural woody forest fragrances, that softly embrace all the senses, relax and try this fab range.

Thank you for my lovely gift! It was so much fun working with you and your Fab team at your launch and providing warming Mirror Water exclusive hand massages as a treat for the weekend's event..

Skin School How to Sanitise your makeup

Skin School

How to sanitise your makeup

Deep cleansing your personal makeup products, cases, tools and brushes should always be a priority, especially since Covid. We must put safety measures in place, and I have put together a simple professional guide, to help you look after your makeup and skincare items safely.

De-clutter and get rid of any items that you have not used or opened, those that are unopened and within the sell by date, you maybe able to swap with friends or donate.

CONTAMINATION

I have a blog post dedicated to de-cluttering your makeup kit, vanity areas and travel bags. They can all be washed in the washing machine, or hand washed according to the fabric. Using the correct cleansing product, cruelty free or natural goes a long way for that extra protection and sanitisation.

Always use licensed isopropyl alcohol

SANITISE

Any product, powder, ingredient or tool that comes into contact with your hands or skin needs to be sanitised, no excuses.

Clean your brushes using a light baby or natural shampoo this will remove makeup, skin dirt from the brush hairs, towel dry them, patting or squeezing with a tissue to remove any excess water. Line up on a table or work surface with the brush hairs hanging over the edge, balancing on the ferule, (metal casing, where the hairs are glued together and housed) on the table to air dry. Remember to wipe down and sanitiise the handles as well.

Breakouts and viral infections can easily be transferred from tools or products, this also occurs when using or sharing unsanitary products, especially in the eye area. BE SAFE

Blemishes and breakouts

Bin Donate or Share unwanted unopened with friends or Donate, but please do check with the Charity for their criteria, prior to delivery.

Sponges, powder puffs and beauty blenders can be disposed of, and replaced or washed weekly.  If you wear foundation daily, why not have a collection spare ones. Many of the pro makeup artists recommend placing the professional cosmetic beauty blenders in a bowl of water and putting into the microwave for extra sterilsation after hand washing them..

Powders, eyeshadows, bronzers and palettes can be sanitised with a mixture of 70% alcohol and 30% distilled water. If the alcohol solution is any higher, it will not perform adequately.

Wipe down the lids edges of the product, cases, give a light spray and wipe them over.  The mix of this solution is perfect, you can spray powders or eyeshadows with a licensed isopropyl alcohol IPA product. This will cut down on the spread of bacteria, virus and fungi. Hold your solution at lest 15-20 cm from the product, the fine mist will sanitise them, allow the mist to evaporate and it will dry in a few seconds. Should you decide to spritz any closer and you risk the chance of damage to your powder products.

Layout all your makeup items, these are mine!!

How to Disinfect products

Eyelash curlers, need to be wiped down and spritzed with your IPA solution, check and bin old reused lashes, that have glue build up. These items have to be carefully cleansed especially to remove the with the built up glue and as they are so close to the easily infected eye area.

Cleanse your foundation tubes, bottles, use your solution to cleanse the nozzles with a cotton bud, wipe the lids and outside of your product, checking the dates, smelling the ingredients and feeling the textures.

Macaras must be trashed after 4-5 months, smell them, if they are clogged, dropping filaments bin them. If you use a disposable wand, unfortunately you will not receive the benefit of the applicator, however you will be safe from infection. The action of pumping the mascara also breads bacteria into the product, by adding air or moisture and can also dry out the product.

Wipe down all vanity surfaces, mirrors, and perfume bottles as they can be a home for breeding bacteria and germs.

Expiry dates

Expiry dates are written on every product  or boxwith a number and a M, take a look at the image below eg: 12M,18M, 24m. The image will be with a pot with a lid. Be aware that this means period after opening POA and the M stands for months.  Each brand will have a dfferent expiry date for each item. Eye products may have a shorter shelf life, however some brands have lipsticks that have expiry dates for up to 2 years. Anything that has separated, a strange texture or consistency, has a weird smell, needs to be binned.

Expiry dates on product packaging

Spray and sharpen your eye and lip pencils, additionally they can also be sprayed with the alcohol solution again for extra caution.

Stop putting nails, acrylic nails, knuckles into your skincare, for your body, facial products. I would highly recommend that you use or purchase a spatula. This current trend is contaminating the products, no matter how clean your hand is, it is unsanitary.

I am appalled at the number of videos I see online, of people putting the pippette from their beautiful oil or serum onto their face then back into the product. Unfortunately this practise will contaminate and possibly cause bacteria to spread into your pot of luxury.
