The Black Cultural Archives was founded in 1981, by educationalist and historian Len Garrison alongside several other dedicated people.

We were honoured to witness a Celebration of Leaders who have worked or influenced the wider aspects of the British culture during the 1960's and 1970's.

I was fortunate to spend time during my Red carpet attendance of this memorable exhibition, to regale memories with some of the respected key heroes of British history. The featured unpublished black and white photographs from the archive collection of Neil Kenlock, truly captures images of the anti-discrimination marches, campaigns and community events. The exhibition is part of the Expectations Project which over a series of events aims to increase public awareness, exploring past historic moments with access to the archive collection.

The launch of the exhibition brought together many politicians, community leaders, media talent including celebrities who explored the brilliant and talented heroes of the UK British Black community.

The Expectations Exhibition was curated by Neil Kenlock's daughter Emelia Kenlock who uses special prints to explore the notion of leadership during this period in Lambeth London.
