"I'm a homeopath with almost 20 years experience as a community pharmacist. Homeopathy is a safe, gentle holistic way of healing. I treat you as an individual not as a number, Homeopathy is holistic not compartmentalized, this allows me to help with your mental, emotional and physical issues at the same time!"
"I became a pharmacist because I wanted to help people get better"
I became frustrated with the lack of tools available in conventional medicine, and many patients would ask for other solutions to painful, chronic conditions. however as pharmacists, we simply couldn’t help them without the inevitable side effects of their prescribed medication.
My homeopathic patients appreciate the depth of my pharmacy knowledge and feel it adds gravitas to my skills. They also feel more at ease knowing I have both pharmacy and homeopathy training.
Discovering Homeopathy - Career Changes
As a mum to two young daughters, I know only too well the pressures of parenting, especially when your children are unwell.
You want something easy and quick to help them!
I discovered homeopathy when my eldest was suffering from eczema at just 14 months old. The steroid creams weren’t working but the homeopathy did – she has not suffered from eczema since! I soon saw how easy it was to alleviate some, of her other common childhood problems like colic and cradle cap.
My homeopath showed me how, I could easily treat my family and my pets with homeopathy, I’ve been doing so for over 10 years now. I have seen first-hand how quickly homeopathy can work for acute illnesses like fever, and also that it works very effectively for chronic, long-term diseases such as eczema.
It is not compulsory in the UK to be registered as it was when I was a pharmacist. However, I wanted the support and believe that you can’t be a professional without belonging to a professional body. The support I get is worth it. I’ve not once regretted my career change and am so much more fulfilled and happy than I was as a pharmacist.
I actually feel that I’m helping people to heal and get better, rather than just being a ‘checking’ machine and partaking in polypharmacy.
I’ve set my working hours around my children and love that I’m my own boss!

In your personal professional opinion, would you like to see more alternative solutions and holistic options alongside doctors recommendations? What changes would you like to see in the N.H.S, if you were able to change any Government guidelines.
In France, and other European countries, GPs prescribe homeopathy alongside or instead of conventional medicine. I would love to see this approach over here. I think giving people the option and raising awareness is key. 98% of people in this country have not heard of homeopathy, let alone what it can do!
In India it’s the no.1 system of medicine.

Are there any particular methods that your used for you and your family, how did you manage to maintain some normality during lockdown?
I like many struggled in lockdown. Home schooling, running a household and a business was stressful! I put in some self-care as much as I could at this time, journaling, moon journaling, talking to friends, gratitude diary, watching funny movies etc. Outside of lockdown, my self care is similar but gym and kickboxing are key for my mental health as well as eating out with friends.

Neela, within your business, you use both alternative and diagnostic systems to aid your client consultations, for mental health and nutrition. You also have additional practices, that you recently gained certification in. This included the very popular Bach Remedies, can you tell us about the wonderful benefits of these remedies?
I studied Bach flower remedies in Sept 2019. I use this as an extra tool if needed when I analyse the case. They are for emotional issues only, however I can make custom blends of these as I have the whole set. I’m very familiar with the Chinese 5-element system as I’ve had a lot of acupuncture. My IVF girls would not be here without it. I also use the Chakra system as well.

I am so impressed that you have time in your busy life to write a gratitude diary, tell us how to creating one.
Yes! It reminds me to look for the positive even on bad days. There is always something to be grateful for. Law of attraction! I used to keep a paper one for 2 years. I now use and app called ‘Presently’ which I find easier, but it's still so important to write as well. Some examples that i may comment on in my journal, may include, things like remembering feeling warm sunshine on my face, listening to a beautiful birdsong, and enjoying amazing cuddles with my daughters.

I love the way you interact naturally with your audience on social media, which is your favourite platform and why?
I was not on Instagram prior to starting my business, but this is where I’m most active. I find it simpler and easier than Facebook /Meta. LinkedIn is not really my playground either as I’m more Business to customer. I find Instagram much more creative, fun and playful. It was challenging to turn my professional business to such a visual platform, but now I really enjoy it! I post at least twice a day now and my stories are always full. It’s all organic growth too and everything I do on there has to feel authentic to me.

We briefly discussed the state of the beauty and skincare Industry with myths and false claims regarding ingredients, products and the benefits of skincare, If you have a message for women, of all ages what would it be?
I would like to let them know that 60% of what you put on your skin (your biggest organ) is absorbed within 6 seconds.
Endocrine (hormone) disruptors are EVERYWHERE including In our tap water, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, cleaning products etc.
You must begin to ask yourself, what would your ancestors do or use? I’ve switched to Tropic Skincare as it is free of ‘nasties’. My eldest is 13yrs old and so get it for her too.

What are the areas of your business are you looking to focus on for 2023?
I would like spread my message about homeopathy for the whole family. I’d also like to sell more online courses, as this can be quite empowering for people to learn about Homeopathy. My 1-2-1 slots unfortunately, maybe limited as the business develops, the online courses can be a great way to access information, so I can assist a greater number of people.
I spend most of my time hanging out on Instagram, so feel free to come and find me there!
